Introducing Sr. Director of Education Solutions: Bonnie Hain

Every month we would like to introduce you to one of the many faces that make up Derivita. 

At Derivita we are passionate about math, education, and bettering both the instructor’s and learner’s journeys. We are passionate about food, music, reading, baking, dancing, and everything in between. We have families and dogs and cats. We listen to Spotify and watch the latest Marvel movies - just like you!

This month is Women’s History Month and we have some pretty impressive ladies who help lead Derivita to success.

One of those women is our Sr. Director of Education Solutions: Bonnie Hain!

We asked Bonnie a few questions about her life inside and outside of Derivita and here are the results:

1. In 2 sentences, describe what you do for Derivita?

As Derivita's new Sr. Director of Education Solutions, I'm working cross-functionally to help Derivita scale its impact, so more educators can help expand student competencies in core content.  I'm bringing my many years of experience in curriculum and assessment design to help educators see how to use the innovations in the Derivita toolset to make the teaching and learning process more effective.

2. What makes Derivita different from other companies in the EdTech space?

Derivita's founders saw a need to make mathematics teaching and learning easier and more effective--and along the way, developed technologies that do this and more. Their commitment to creating truly innovative solutions that save teachers time while exponentially increasing student learning makes Derivita the amazing company it is. For example, typically, humans learn best when they make a mistake and get targeted and personalized feedback to help shape knowledge and skills. Up until now, for teachers to provide that input to every student required many hours of work. Derivita provides technology that automates the feedback process, while simultaneously providing a variety of means to engage students actively in classroom-based learning. And because the founders listened to and heard what teachers shared, they built the technology so many open-ended, higher-order problems could be auto-scored with targeted feedback provided. Derivita shows us what happens when high-quality technology meets high-quality content.

3. What is your favorite part of working at Derivita?

The entire team is dedicated to making a difference for educators and students. It's amazing to come to work daily and participate in ongoing chats where everyone including the CEO/founders, engineers, sales and marketing team, and content experts all engage in dialogue focused on how to best help the educators and students we are blessed to serve.

4. What is your most listened to or your go-to song right now? 

Whatever the Heardle song for the day is-https://www.heardle.app/. I'm obsessed with all these internet guessing games (Wordle, Quordle, Wordle geography--I'm playing them all).

5. In honor of Pi Day, do you prefer cake or pie? 

Pie! Preferably Strawberry rhubarb or Key lime.
