K-12 Account Executive — Secondary Math
Help districts discover the math platform that’s actually built for teaching. You’ll open doors, build trust with administrators, and close deals that put better math learning in front of hundreds of thousands of students.
Sell something worth selling.
Derivita is the only secondary math solution built to support teacher-led, student-centered instruction, at scale. One connected solution that spans every level of instruction, from individual practice and classwork to school, PLC, and district-level assessments and insights, grade 6 through Calculus III.
You’ll own a geographic territory, build relationships with district math leaders and administrators, run discovery and demos, and drive deals from first conversation to signed contract. You’ll be collaborating with a tight team of experts who'll help support your efforts at every level.
This is a consultative sale to smart buyers. You won’t succeed with a script. You’ll succeed by genuinely understanding what a school district needs and showing them how Derivita delivers it.
Responsibilities
Own a defined geographic territory. Build and manage a pipeline of school and district opportunities from prospecting through close.
Run consultative discovery conversations with district leaders and math specialists. Deliver tailored product demonstrations that connect Derivita’s capabilities to each buyer’s goals.
Develop trusted relationships with curriculum directors, district math specialists, and district administrators across your territory.
Land pilots at the school level and partner with Customer Success to expand successful pilots into full district agreements.
Represent Derivita at state, regional and national math and ed tech conferences. Convert in-person conversations into qualified pipeline.
Keep HubSpot up to date. Accurate pipeline visibility enables the whole team to support your deals and measure what’s working.
Qualifications
We’re not looking for someone to recite a pitch. We want someone who builds genuine credibility with district leaders, and who understands that math education is a high-stakes, high-complexity domain.
3+ years of B2B sales experience, with at least 1 year selling into K-12 school districts
Demonstrated ability to navigate multi-stakeholder deals involving curriculum, IT, and budget decision-makers
Strong discovery and demo skills — consultative selling, not feature-dumping
Comfortable presenting to curriculum directors, math specialists, and district administrators
CRM discipline, accurate pipeline management in HubSpot or equivalent
Background in secondary math education — as a teacher, coach, or instructional specialist
Experience selling ed tech platforms with LMS integration (Canvas preferred)
Familiarity with K-12 procurement cycles, RFP processes, and budget timelines
Experience at an early-stage or growth-stage ed tech company
Existing relationships in your target territory with district math or curriculum leaders
You’ll have the product. The evidence. The story.
The hardest part of an edtech sales job is believing in what you’re selling. That problem doesn’t exist here.
Derivita can grade open-ended math. No other K-12 platform does this at scale. It’s a genuine technical advantage that’s visible the moment someone sees a demo.
Independent ESSA Level III and Level IV studies. Third-party research. +13 percentile point gains. You walk into a budget conversation with a defensible ROI argument.
Districts don’t just renew, they expand. Every deal you close builds a foundation for the next one. Your book of business compounds over time.
Built by Devlin Daley, who co-founded Canvas/Instructure. Deep LMS integration drives 85%+ license utilization. Districts actually use what they buy.
Every deal puts better math learning in front of real students. The mission isn’t marketing language. It’s the actual reason we built this.
Small team. High expectations. Real ownership. You won’t be handing deals off to a faceless process, you’ll own the relationship and see what you build.
What district leaders say.
When you walk in, you walk in with this behind you.
“Derivita has revolutionized our assessments by simplifying the process for both teachers and students… This data has enabled us to effectively address the individual needs of all of our learners.”
“They’re having conversations like, ‘Your kids did better on number seven than my kids. Why?’… That’s been a really powerful tool to model what a PLC should really look like.”
